Somnomancer is out. Nine tracks, live now on Suno.
It’s a concept record, but the concept is a place rather than a plot. Nine fictional people in Houston and the surrounding Gulf Coast get a track each and tell it their own way — a morning drive-thru line on the Beltway, a sales pitch, childhood summers spent visiting a grandmother in Ohio, a bar at closing time. None of them think they’re the problem.
Amber recurs through it and comes closest to a through-line. Her vocabulary degrades as the record goes — the words available to her narrow until she can’t say the thing that would get her out. “Sweetheart” is where it stops describing her situation and drops her inside it.
How it got made#
Lyrics first, always. From there the music is generated with Suno — chords, arrangement, vocal performances — prompted against the written words, auditioned across a lot of takes, and cut down to what actually served the arc. Sections got regenerated and reordered where the sequence needed it.
Then Reaper, which is where the real time went: arrangement and structure, drum grooves, MIDI CC automation driven by stem analysis, ambient texture passes underneath the mix.
